Hi, I’m Esha Ray. Welcome to Casually Political.
A little bit about me — I'm a 25-year-old, first-generation Indian-American. I live in New York City. I'm a former television news reporter. And I see a void in the way we discuss politics.
I'm starting Casually Political with a simple goal in mind: to create a place for smart, casual conversation about the big issues that affect our generation without being patronizing or high-brow. Like many of my peers, I'm not a single issue voter, nor am I a blind believer in the two-party system. I like to keep my mind open and opinions fluid — but it's hard to find a venue that does the same. I want Casually Political to be that venue, a place to explore new ideas and find some meaning behind the madness.
Over the next few days, Casually Political will launch its first vertical, a daily blog. Each post will be published Monday through Friday at 9:00AM EST.
Over the next month, you’ll see some bigger projects popping up, including a video series that will take a deeper look at government and its role in our society. The series will tackle issues like how we govern ourselves in the 21st century; why we don't feel represented by the people elected to represent us; and, is democracy really a good thing?
There’s a lot of fun stuff coming soon. If you like what you hear, make sure to follow Casually Political on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or subscribe below to get a weekly newsletter every Sunday. I’ll be back with the first one on Monday at 9:00AM. See you then.
